Time to Act

Take action: write to your MP about settlement trade

This June, the UK Government imposed sanctions on networks linked to settler violence and issued new guidance advising UK businesses against engaging in economic and financial activity in illegal Israeli settlements — including participating in the highly controversial E1 settlement project.

While these actions are welcome, they fall short of addressing Israel’s occupation of Palestine, which the International Court of Justice deemed illegal in its 2024 Advisory Opinion. Sanctions targeting a limited number of actors and non-binding guidance for businesses fall short of addressing the scale of the problem. Without clear legal prohibitions and meaningful consequences, UK trade and investment can still be linked to illegal settlements. This risks enabling the very violations the UK says it opposes.

That is why Time to Act is calling for stronger, concrete action.

We are urging the UK Government to:

  • Adopt and implement legislation prohibiting trade, services, and investment linked to illegal Israeli settlements, and suspend the UK–Israel Trade and Partnership Agreement until Israel fully complies with its human rights provisions and the International Court of Justice (ICJ) Advisory Opinion of 19 July 2024.

This is our first collective action. It is the beginning of a sustained effort to ensure the UK matches its words with meaningful action and acts for a just peace for all those who call the Holy Land home.

Email your MP today: use our template to ask your MP to raise this with the Government and push for urgent, concrete change. It only takes a few minutes — but together, our voices can make a real difference.
