Embrace’s new report for the UN’s Universal Periodic Review (UPR) is an opportunity to ensure that the voices of our partners in Syria are heard by both the UK government and Syria’s transitional authorities. The UPR is a UN process that reviews a country’s human rights record and allows other states, including the UK, to recommend changes.

We developed this report together with our Christian partners who work every day alongside communities affected by violence, insecurity and hardship. Their evidence, insight and lived experience are at the heart of this submission.

The report raises urgent concerns, including the need for an inclusive constitutional process, better protection for religious and ethnic minorities, affordable access to basic goods and services, and stronger protection for women’s rights.

Be part of this important effort by writing to your MP and urging them to raise this report and its recommendations with the UK government ahead of Syria’s UPR.
